Getting to know historic Chalfont St Peter better.

26th Jul 2019

Chalfont St Peter is steeped in history and one of the very best ways to appreciate this 1066 Doomsday Book village of Chalfont St Peter (once known as Celfunde) is to walk the historic Chalfont St Peter Heritage Walk. The Heritage Walk was established by The Celfunde Inheritance, a local history and volunteer group, in association with Chalfont St Peter Parish Council to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. On the trail you will find 27 heritage plaques around the village (Please note, there is no 13!) each showing an historic photo and giving an interesting historical fact about the village. Allow a half day to complete the 3 hour walk and then spend some time exploring the village centre shops and excellent facilities. There really is no better way to appreciate the village's past.

Pop into the village community library in the High Street for details and the relevant leaflet to get you started. Feedback from people that have completed the walk has been fantastic. Chalfont St Peter village centre is brimming with great places to shop and relax after completing the walk.
